Nice to Meet You! We’re Pavla and Dini

Pavla, originally from the Czech Republic, has been living in Central Java since 2017. She loves uncovering hidden corners far from the tourist crowds and has immersed herself in local life, seeing Indonesia through a different lens.

Dini, born and raised in Indonesia, is an adventurous soul who values authentic experiences over mainstream attractions. She believes the best kind of travel is the one that connects you with people and their stories.

Together, we run Backindo, a travel blog dedicated to Indonesia, where we share our unique perspectives and insider knowledge to help you discover the real Indonesia—one hidden gem at a time.

Why Backindo?

When people hear “Indonesia,” they often think only of Bali. But with over 17,000 islands, diverse cultures, and local traditions that vary from village to village, Indonesia has so much more to offer.

Unfortunately, mass tourism often leads travelers to the same overcrowded, overpriced attractions, stripping places of their authenticity. At Backindo, we believe in responsible travel—one that respects local communities, preserves traditions, and ensures that the places we love don’t lose their essence just because they become “Instagram-famous.”

We’ve walked the lesser-known paths, lived among the locals, and uncovered experiences that don’t make it into mainstream guidebooks. Backindo is our way of sharing these hidden gems with you—guiding you beyond the tourist hotspots into the real heart of Indonesia, where adventure feels raw and connections feel meaningful.

The name Backindo carries a double meaning: "Backpacking Indonesia" and "Back to Indonesia"—because once you experience its true essence, you’ll want to return.

Our mission is simple: to help you travel deeper, not just farther. Whether you’re a backpacker craving adventure or a traveler seeking an authentic connection, we’ll show you how to explore Indonesia in a way that is rewarding for you and respectful to the places and people who call it home.

Unity in Diversity—The Indonesia We Love
